"Moving Forward"
This year, there will be all the traditional events and activities, along with some new ones.
We have something for everyone this year, from racing pigs and chariots and chainsaws to beautiful gemstones and orchids.
2009 will herald the recommencement of Harness Racing in the Wide Bay region. At this point we’re a little light on sponsorship, so if you can help, please let us know.’
The horse events will include led and ridden events and showjumping, as well as District and Pony Club events. This year also sees the return of the Stockman’s Challenge and the Barrel Race.
The Prime Cattle section will also feature in 2009 and organizers hope to attract strong entries. Other animal sections include the Kennel Club’s Championships, the beauty and colour of the bird entries and the sheep, alpaca and goat display.
For those seeking thrills and spills we have the rides - both old and new - of Sideshow Alley and the excitement of the woodchop and chainsaw competitions.
‘The theme of the Show this year is Moving Forward,’ said Col Horrocks, the Show Society President. ‘We are in the 21st century and it is high time that was reflected in our annual agricultural Shows. We are moving forward as a Show Society, as a community and into our future."
Membership packages are available now at the Show Society’s office at 92 Ellena St, Maryborough, which will allow unlimited entry during the Show.
Schedules and entry forms are also available for those who want to show off their hobbies and passions.
